Motivational Speaker
The life you are born into has a huge influence. Your experiences mould you, make you the person you are. But the choices you make and the decisions you take as you travel through life have a massive impact on the person you become.
My life could have been very different to the one I live today had I not made significant life changes.
It was in pieces
But with help I was able to fit the pieces back together
I have a truly amazing and powerful story of recovery that will inspire. Fire passion for change. A story of personal wreck, ruin and realisation. Of broken families, violence, alcohol and drugs. The story charts my life and that of my amazing family who supported me on a journey to find the most true and authentic ‘me’.
And this leads to a second story, perhaps the most important one. A story of new beginnings. Of trust, taking risks and overcoming challenges. Seizing opportunities, experiences and new adventures. Our story will motivate and inspire. A realisation that life is for living. That ‘snap of the fingers’ moment when you realise that NOW is the time to do something different before it’s too late.

Speaking Coach and Mentor
Tomorrow you will be asked to speak in front of others. How does that make you feel?
“Can’t wait, looking forward to it” or “no way, I can’t do that”
Whether speaking in front of a large audience, presenting your ideas to your supervisor or sharing information with colleagues, speaking publicly can generate differing levels of fear and anxiety and for some such debilitating fear that it leads to avoiding the situation at all costs.
But there will be times when you need to speak in front of others. To an audience of one or many. And I can help you to be ready. To be more confident. I have the knowledge, tools and techniques to help you become a proficient speaker.
A SEAGULL`S SECRET
I’ll let you into a secret.
For as long as I can remember I have felt comfortable being in front of a crowd, ad libbing and acting the clown. I loved the attention, the buzz that came with it.
But I was always just playing at it.
I thought that my confidence and easy casual chatter would enable a smooth transition to speaking in front of a large audience. So when asked to speak to a group of school children about to embark on endurance event I seized the opportunity. It was a topic I knew well. What could possibly go wrong?
My first speaking engagement was a ‘trainwreck’.
I completed the talk, got a round of applause and as soon as I could I RAN.
Why did I consider it an absolute shocker? In my mind the talk was a rambling incoherent mess, with no structure and very little ‘take-aways’. I made it about ‘me’ not about ‘them’. Didn’t connect with the audience. I panicked, so much so I still can’t remember the details of the speech. It is said you can block out traumatic experiences, I think this is exactly what I did. I was totally unprepared and it exposed my weaknesses.
THE SEAGULL RESETS
“take a deep breath, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.” Frank Sinatra
I could have given up right there and then. But instead I made it a mission to reset my whole approach to public speaking. To take it seriously. Throwing myself into studying, researching and practicing the art of public speaking. I joined Toastmasters to fine tune my technique and develop my speaking style.
Now I thrive on the adrenaline of being up front and centre, of speaking in front of an audience. There is still ‘fear’ but it drives me rather than paralyses me. I feel comfortable and confident and have developed my own unique speaking style.
Toastmasters had such a positive affect on my speaking career that in order to give something back I am now the President of my local club and aim to help many others on their pathway to public speaking.
A Seagull by your side
I can help YOU. As your coach and mentor I will help you to become a more confident and proficient public speaker. Lessen the impact of your first trainwreck. And let me say here and now you will experience that trainwreck. And it will be the biggest learning point on your pathway to great public speaking. But unlike my crash I’ll be right by your side pick you up, dust you off and give you what you need to start again.
“I’ll be right there, by your side”
I’m excited at what we can achieve together. Can you imagine how pumped I’ll be whilst we go through this training… let’s do this, let’s bounce!
