Cold Therapy

Trail Running

The use of cold therapy to relieve pain immediately after a run may provide some benefit but its ability to aid recovery is questionable. However its ad hoc use is unlikely to cause harm.

So listen to your body, if you feel it helps indulge yourself. Whether that’s with the use of an ice pack, a walk into cold sea water, or the use of an after run ice bath.

I have to confess I am a little spoiled living where I currently do. There is nothing more refreshing than taking a dip in the cool waters of Port Phillip Bay, or local river or lake after a run especially during the summer. I might be a little more reluctant to walk out into the water even in Summer if I was still living in the North West of England.
