Trail Running
Lost your MOJO for running?
It’s our motivation, our confidence, our energy, the thing that gets us and keeps us running.
But what do you do when you’ve lost it? When you are lacking enthusiasm or motivation to get out for a run? Let’s get back to basics. Why do you run? What’s your motivation?
Refocus on what is important to YOU
Do what YOU love. Not what others want you to do.
Run with those whose company you enjoy on the trails. Who will motivate and encourage and keep you accountable, but won’t push you beyond where you are ready to go.
Run in places you enjoy, keeping it fun and enjoyable.
Just run for fun. Avoid the pressures of ‘race day’ or ‘long haul’ runs and just enjoy being out on the trails for those short and slow runs.
Your Mojo feeds off FUN and needs to feel LOVED. If there isn’t any fun in your run there isn’t any love to share with your MOJO!
Mix it up
A change is as good as a rest, or is that a holiday? I can’t remember but either way change is good!
Don’t stick to the same places and running the trails. Try other trails or change the direction you run. Get out to places you haven’t been for a while or even at all. Run at night, when the most mundane trail becomes a completely new adventure and challenge. Mix it up and make it fun.
Yes it that FUN word again and that’s because it’s one of the key ingredients for amazing trail running.
Have fun and you will fall back in love with running. And your MOJO will come bouncing back for sure, 100%. It’ll be running round your legs like a little puppy. Jumping up at you, tripping you up and basically being a complete bloody nuisance. But as we all know puppies are so adorable and no matter what they do you can’t get upset with them. And that’s what it’s like when your MOJO returns.
Enjoy the joy of trail running and most importantly don’t take it too seriously.
