Running Gear

Trail Running

Everything you need to get running on trails

Much of the gear you need for trail running is similar to that of road running.
That is with a few important exceptions and additions to adapt to the uneven terrain, the harsh conditions and the remoteness that trail running can often lead you into.
“There is no harm in hoping for the best as long as you have prepared for the worse” Stephen King

Running Naked

The clothing and amount of running gear you need on a trial run is very much dependent on the type of run and runner you are. The location, elevation, distance, duration and terrain of the run. The weather, and as this can change in an instant it`s best to be prepared for all eventualities especially on a long run.
If you are running solo or with others. And if mandatory gear is required for an organised event.
Some like all the gear and gadgets. Others run naked.
And no I don’t mean starkers (that means nude for the non-brits). Although legend has it that I have done that, but that is a story for another time!!

Lessons Learnt: my dos and don`ts

I’ve been pounding the trails since 2013 and participated in numerous events of varying distances from 5km to 100 milers. During this time I have made many mistakes. I have learnt a lot about the dos and definite don`ts of trail running.
And I am still learning. Trying out new things in the hope it will make for a more comfortable and enjoyable run with the aim that I can stay out on the trails and in the great outdoors for longer.
I have my tried and trusted favourites, and I am happy to share these with you. And I will never recommend anything I have not used and love myself.

So let’s get into this.....
