What To Wear

Trail Running

Ensure you have the trail running gear suitable for the run you are planning. Spending a little time preparing your gear can be the difference between loving or hating a run. It can help to keep you safe, avoid nasty chafing, accident and injury.

Compression Clothing

It is reported that wearing compression clothing can accelerate the body`s natural recovery process, assist with blood flow and help to warm up, support and stabilise the muscles. The evidence to support these claims is difficult to substantiate. However individuals report that wearing compression gear feels more supportive like ‘your preventing an injury’. That they ‘provide calf support’, ‘protect the achilles’, ‘comfort aching limbs’.  Wearing compression is not going to make you a better runner. But if it helps you feel more comfortable during your run or feels like it’s aiding your recovery then go for it.

I personally wear a compression vest for running because it feels comfortable and prevents chafing. And after a long run I choose to wear compression socks because they help my toes to feel protected and my calves supported. Do they work? Well they do for me at least in my mind!
